An avid music enthusiast Jarrod started out in the music industry as a member of the Trinidadian based sound system Fire Star Disco, from there he moved on to university in Canada and started DJing under the name DJ J-Rod. The goal of J-Rod records is to produce high quality Caribbean music and promote this music to new territories the world over. In late 2009 Jarrod linked up with the New Zealand based label High Stakes Records who played a beautiful, melodic reggae riddim known now as the 2nd Chances Riddim that was released in 2010. He also connected with other producers around the globe that were building soca, dancehall, reggaeton and reggae riddims. The follow up to the 2nd Chances Riddim was again working with the New Zealand Duo High Stakes to produce a one drop riddim titled the Life Lesson Riddim 2011. The label then shifted to Soca music and in 2012 working with Sheriff Music to release the Bar Code Riddim and within the same year working with SMASH from London, UK to release the Cosmic Riddim. The following year was the most successful in the labels history as again working with Sheriff Music Bunji Garlin’s hit song ‘Diffeentology’ was released. It was one of the most successful songs to be released from Trinidad and Tobago in the last decade. It was featured on major radio stations in the US, Canada and UK and also won a Soul Train Award for Best perfoarmance. Within that same year other releases included the Wonda Woman Riddim, Session Riddim, Dark Horse, 5 Star Akil – Partier and Bunji Garlin – Carnival Tabanca. In 2014 the collobaration contiuned with Sheriff Music releasing Chuku Chuku Riddim. In the summer of 2014 a foundation reggae riddim was released entitled The Bad Cowboy Riddim with the lead track from veteran dj Ninja Man, it also featured Marlon Asher, Turbulence, Merciless and many more. 2015 will see the release of more great soca, reggae and dancehall music.
