Jacksonville born, Los Angeles-based producer and artist Darien Bankhead — now known as Boyband — has found himself at the dawning of his career thanks to the discovery of Taz Taylor’s Internet Money. From blaring desktop speakers Boyband has always teetered the lines between electronic, pop, alternative, r&b, and hip hop. In doing so, he has went through various pseudonyms until recently settling on the very ominous name Boyband which seems to be a more perfect fit to his persona than all the rest. His outlet as a producer has led him down roads of “dream pop” to “goth trap” and “slow funk electro” which have all added to his experimental sound as an artist. From Boyband you will get an unflinchingly honest songwriting style that seems to be the new standard of his experimentation.
Most recently Boyband produced Lil Nas X’s song “Kick It” off of his “7 EP” release, along with several others. Not only has he built up his name as a successful producer, but Boyband also shares his own creations, including songs such as “Leftonread” and “Dream Girl”.
