Billie J. born April 6th in Brooklyn New York, graduated from Brooklyn H.S. of the Arts as a Vocal Major. The singer-songwriter and record producer is known for her fusion of Pop, Rock, and Soul. Her signature raspy heavy tone adds an edge to her opium sound, a sure individual. Among friends and family she is known for her bold, rebellious and grunge-like personality. “My mother used to call me Cindy Lauper because as a child I would cut up and re alter my clothes to suit my fashion sense. I never followed “”the trends”” of the crowd. My definition of sexy is Marilyn Monroe on a Chopper motorcycle,” she stated. Billie J. is known for her admiration of the 50’s & 60’s era.
Billie began singing at the age of 4 and writing in fifth grade, idolizing her uncle, a gospel performer who traveled with many well-known gospel choirs. He would later become one of her backup singers. She grew up in a musical family. Her grandmother is also a vocalist. Her mother was a battle rapper, father, a Virgin Island native also lived his dream as an artist In Japan, while in the U.S. Navy.
Billie has written records with many industry greats such as, Rob Fusari a Grammy-winning record producer and songwriter, best known for having #1 hits with Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Whitney Houston and Will Smith. Together they also wrote “Sweet Disaster” a single, for the producers upcoming solo project. She’s also worked with Heatmakerz and RockWilder. She is currently in the studio working on multiple writing and recording projects with multi-instrumentalist producer Carl James (Mariah Carey, Steve Windwood, Busta Rhymes). Some of Billies’ musical influences are Diane Warren, Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Sia and Adele just to name a few. In 2010 Billie released a lover’s rock single that reached #1, Top Ten local on the singles chart in St Croix Virgin Islands. Collectively as a writer and artist she has air plays in Mexico, Italy, Japan, Kenya just name a few. Although Billie enjoys writing she often states her greatest reward is being inspired to give of herself to her fans in a transformative way while performing.
